PINEAPPLE MOTOR SPORTS TEAMS UP WITH PIRELLI

Pineapple Motor Sports continues to impress sponsors with its consistent performance throughout the 2008 season and by affirming this, its latest being Pirelli onboard as its official tyre supplier for the rest of the race season.
At the Malaysian Super Series Round 3 at Sepang the focused team of engineers and team riders Brent Odgers and Omar Ali Abdullah hailed success as they managed to secure 1st and 6th placing at the Superbike Open category respectively despite being given little time allowance for testing during practice and qualifying.
Pirelli Asia’s Area Manager Frank Obermeier commented “ Pirelli is extremely happy and proud to start a collaboration with the strongest team in the MSS, Pineapple Motor Sports/Msportbike Racing Team. The Diablo Supercorsas arrived by air at KL International Airport, freshly produced in Pirelli’s radial tyre factory in Germany - so just in time for the third round of the MSS.”

He also added, “ Team Pineapple Motor Sports will test some very different compounds of Diablo Supercorsas to find the right set-up in this extremely short time before the races starts. Pirelli is sure that with the team’s excellent knowledge and spirit and with the state-of-the-art bikes and, last but not least with the rider performance level, Pineapple Motor Sports will continue the success story on our tyres. We would be not surprised if there are some pretty fast lap times to be seen even on this race week-end.”

Team Principal Encik Ahmad Razlan Tan Sri Dato’ Ahmad Razali said upon receiving the Pirellis, “I’m extremely happy that Pirelli had confidence in us to perform accordingly. We strategized to find the best setup with the use of the new tyres and given today’s performance, I’m glad that Brent and Omar were both comfortable with the new rubbers”.
Worldwide, Pirelli is seen as the leader in providing the latest tyre technology for Supersports and Superbikes racing. Pirelli is the official tyre supplier for the World Supersport and World Superbike championships since 2004, which gave them the ideal platform to continuously improve their products.
“Since this year we are appointed as the official tyre supplier for the national British Superbike and Supersport Championship, which are for sure one of the most professional championships of the world on national level. Another proof that we've done the right things and developed and produced the best products.” added Obermeier.
With their latest partnership with Pineapple Motor Sports/Msportbike Racing Team, a step forward to Pirelli’s determination to increase its presence in South East Asia. Pirelli does not intend however at this point to organize tyre control championships, however Obermeier commented that “ We do however want to have partnerships with the best and most professional teams on national level.” The Malaysian Super Series (Bikes) is held over five rounds with Round Four scheduled for 11th and 12th July.
